A useful school website in Bangladesh needs eight things: a clear home page, about, academics, admission (with dates, fees and a form), a dated notice board, teachers, results and contact. The notice board and admission page do most of the work, because they answer the questions parents otherwise phone the office about. Pick one named person, usually an office assistant or ICT teacher, to update it every week; an out-of-date notice board does more harm than having none.
Parents in Bangladesh now look for school information on their phones: admission dates, the exam routine, whether school is closed tomorrow, where to pay fees. Many schools, colleges and coaching centres still answer these questions by phone, on a Facebook page where old posts disappear, or on a notice board at the gate. A simple, well-kept school website puts it all in one place and makes the institution look organised and trustworthy to new families.
This guide explains what a school website in Bangladesh should contain, how to handle notices, admission and results online, and who should run it. It applies to primary and secondary schools, colleges, English-medium schools, kindergartens and coaching centres. (A Bangla version is available: স্কুল ও কোচিং সেন্টারের ওয়েবসাইট.)

Why a school needs its own website
- Fewer phone calls: admission dates, fees, uniform rules and office hours are written once and read by everyone.
- Notices that stay findable: on Facebook, last month's exam routine is buried under newer posts. A notice board on your website keeps every notice dated and in order.
- Trust for new families: parents choosing a school compare websites. A clear site with real teachers, real facilities and up-to-date news makes a strong first impression.
- Found on Google: searches such as "English medium school in Mirpur" or "HSC coaching in Rajshahi" can lead to your website; a Facebook page is less likely to appear for searches like these.
- Your own address: a domain such as
yourschool.edu.bdoryourschool.comlooks official on letters, ID cards and banners.
Pages a school website needs

A few notes on the less obvious pages:
- About: include the year of establishment, management or governing body, the principal's short message, your education board and, where you have one, your EIIN. Parents and officials look for these.
- Academics: list classes or groups (Science, Business Studies, Humanities), the curriculum (national curriculum, English version, Cambridge or Edexcel), class times and the academic calendar.
- Facilities: labs, library, transport, canteen, playground. Photos of the real buildings help more than stock images.
- For coaching centres: add batches, schedules, course fees and the teachers for each subject. Model test dates are often the most visited notice.
The notice board
The notice board is what makes parents come back to the site. Set it up so it is easy to read and easy to update:
- One notice per post. Each holiday, exam routine or meeting gets its own post, so it can be shared as a link in the parents' WhatsApp or Facebook group.
- Date in the title. For example "Annual exam routine, Class 6–9 (published 2 November)". Parents should never have to guess whether a notice is current.
- Newest first, and the latest three or four notices on the home page.
- Write it as text, not only as a photo of a paper notice. Text can be read on a small phone screen, found by search and translated; a blurry photo cannot. Attach the signed copy as well if you need to.
- Categories such as Admission, Exams, Holidays and Events help when the list grows.
Tip: when you post an important notice, share its link in the class WhatsApp groups and on your Facebook page. The website becomes the one official source, and the groups point to it.
Admission and fees online
During admission season the admission page is the most visited page on most school websites. A good one answers every common question before the parent picks up the phone:
- Which classes have seats and the eligibility for each (age, previous class, results).
- Key dates: form availability, last date, admission test or interview, result, first day of classes.
- Papers needed: birth registration certificate, photos, previous school's transfer certificate, parents' ID copies, or whatever your school asks for.
- Fees: admission fee, monthly tuition, session charges, transport. If you offer scholarships, sibling or merit discounts, explain the rule.
- How to apply: an online form for the first step, followed by an office visit to verify papers, works well for most schools.
Collecting fees online is possible, but think it through. Showing the school's official bKash or Nagad merchant number, or a bank account in the school's name, with clear instructions is a simple start. Never ask parents to pay into a personal number, and always issue a receipt. If you take card payments through a gateway, the gateway's own fees and paperwork apply; confirm them with the provider.

Teachers and results
Teachers
List each teacher's name, subject or responsibility and qualifications. Photos are optional and a matter of school policy; get each teacher's consent before publishing one. For coaching centres, the teacher list is often the main reason a parent chooses you, so give it care.
Results
Public exam results (SSC, HSC, Dakhil, Alim and similar) are published by the education boards. On your website you can publish a summary and congratulate your students. For internal exams, protect student privacy: many schools publish results by roll number rather than full name, or share individual results with parents directly instead of publicly. Never publish student phone numbers or home addresses.
Photos of students
Sports day and prize-giving photos make a website feel alive, but they show children. Ask parents for consent (a line in the admission form works), avoid naming children in photos, and remove a photo promptly if a parent asks.
Who updates it
Most school websites fail for one reason: nobody is responsible after launch. Decide this before you build:
- One owner, usually the ICT teacher or an office assistant, with one backup person.
- A weekly routine of about half an hour (see below), plus extra time in admission and exam seasons.
- Clear approval: who checks a notice before it goes live, usually the head teacher or an assistant head.
- Accounts in the school's name: the domain, website and email accounts should belong to the school's official email, with the password kept by management. Schools often lose their domain when the person who registered it leaves.

The person who updates the site does not need to be technical. With a website builder, adding a notice is similar to writing a Facebook post. If your staff prefer working in Bangla, choose a platform whose admin panel works in Bangla.
Common mistakes
- Last year's admission notice still on the home page.
- Notices posted only as photos of paper, unreadable on a phone.
- A heavy image slider that takes long to load on mobile data, with no useful information on the first screen.
- Phone numbers nobody answers, and no office hours.
- Student results with full names and personal details published openly.
- The domain registered to a former staff member's personal account.
Building a school website with Metanoz
Metanoz has 20 school and education templates, covering schools, colleges, coaching centres, madrasas and training institutes. Schools usually run on the Business plan (contact us for pricing), which includes apps such as Blog & News for the notice board, Team for teachers, Events, Photo Gallery, Courses, the Form Builder for admission forms, and SMS Campaigns for messages to parents through your own SMS provider. See all of them on the apps page. The admin works in Bangla with English one click away, there is a 7-day free trial with no card, and you can connect your own domain on any plan.
Where Metanoz is not the full answer: attendance, fee ledgers, report cards and class-wise result processing are jobs for dedicated school management software. A website is the public face: information, notices, admission and contact. Many schools use both. If you are still comparing platforms, our guide to choosing a website builder in Bangladesh lists what to check.
What to do next
Hold a short meeting with the head teacher and office staff. Agree on who owns the website, gather the school's history, the list of teachers and subjects, this year's admission details and a dozen photos of the buildings and events. With that in hand, a template can be filled in within a few days. For ideas from other sectors that also rely on frequent updates, see how a news portal in Bangladesh organises categories and daily posts.

What should a school website in Bangladesh include?
At minimum: home, about, academics, admission with dates and fees, a dated notice board, teachers, results and achievements, and contact details with office hours and a map. Coaching centres should add batches, schedules and course fees.
Can parents apply for admission online?
Yes. An online form can collect the first details (student name, class, parents' contacts), and the office then verifies papers and arranges any test or interview. Most schools in Bangladesh combine the two.
Should we publish exam results on the website?
Board results are published by the education boards; you can post a summary and congratulations. For internal exams, publish by roll number or share results privately with parents, and never publish personal details.
Who should update the school website?
One named staff member, usually the ICT teacher or an office assistant, with a backup. About half an hour a week is enough outside admission and exam seasons.
Can we use a .edu.bd domain?
Educational institutions in Bangladesh can apply for .edu.bd domains, which are handled through the .bd registry with its own papers and rules. Check the current requirements with the registry. A .com domain is quicker to get and works just as well technically.
How much does a school website cost?
It depends on the route. A custom-built site costs more upfront plus maintenance. On Metanoz, schools usually use the Business plan (contact us for pricing) plus the cost of your own domain, with a 7-day free trial.
