Synth Riders, because it’s low impact, and doesn’t hurt my shoulder muscles. If I wasn’t having problems with my shoulder muscles, then Powerbeats would be my favorite. I love the game. It’s very simple to play, so very little thinking is required. It’s a punching game similar to BoxVR, which is also a good game as well. I just like Powerbeats more because it’s easy, and it will quickly get your heart rate up, and keep it there the whole time you play. I was burning 700+ calories an hour, and it was fun, and I didn’t feel like I was working out. The only problem was, that you throw so many punches in the game, that I was overusing my shoulder muscles, which became painful, and I had to stop playing it.
Synth Riders doesn’t require you to throw punches. You just hold your hand in the right position to hit a ball that’s flying at you. No punching is required. The game also has some great music in it. Powerbeats as well.
If you are not in shape, like me, and you want to play a punching game. I would recommend starting out slow, playing say 15mins, and then stopping for a couple of hours, then playing again, or waiting till the next day. Very slowly build up your shoulder muscles, till they can handle the demand you asking of them.
These games are fun and easy to play. You’ll play way longer than you ever think you would. Powerbeats, I was throwing around 5,000 punches, and I didn’t want to stop. It was easy to me, mindless fun, but my body couldn’t keep up. I had to stop playing to let my shoulder heal and found Synth Riders. Which is fun as well, and I burn around 400 calories in 53 mins. I try to play 2 or 3 times a day.
It’s been 2 months, and I’m just now slowly trying to build up my punching muscles again. I’m only doing 15 mins a day, and I’ll do that for a month, then I’ll add a little more time. Hopefully, in a few months, will be able to do an hour, the ease, and next year, I’ll do 2 hours. I love punching games, like Powerbeats, because you move your body, and the game forces you to do squats. So you working your legs as well. Just remember, throwing thousands of punches, and wear out your muscles really fast, and you won’t realize you're doing it, till the next day, and your muscles are really painful, not just sore, but sharp pain. It’s not fun then.
VR is a great, fun way to do Cardio. You don’t even feel like you exercising, because it’s fun. I tend to turn down the music and listen to audiobooks. So my body does the exercise, while I’m enjoying a good book, before I know it, my session is over, and have to put the book down. If I want to read more, I have to start exercising again. :) Motivation! :)
