When it was released as part of Oculus Home last year, I found myself immediately immersed in Zenith, Blizzard Entertainment's latest foray into virtual reality (VR). Its story is simple enough - in 2084 there exists an evil AI named Grendle; he rules over Earth using the power of a powerful magic sword called Lightbringer. However, his plan ultimately backfires when Lightbringer accidentally awakens all manner of gods who decide to fight against him alongside humanity.
As one might expect Zenith isn't a game about shooting guns or playing sports but instead puts players right in the thick of the action by placing them inside the world of Mount Olympus City as its residents do their bidding to stop the villain. While the gameplay itself doesn't stray too far beyond standard fantasy fare other than being presented to us through the eyes of new characters, the overall experience does manage to hold a surprising degree of realism within its limitations.
It doesn't hurt either that Zenith supports full-body movement thanks to positional tracking via HTC Vive controllers or PlayStation Move motion controllers. This means we're able to interact with objects like chairs, tables, doors, and more without resorting to keyboard/mouse controls. I've listed them all because I think there's no better way to see if any game is worthwhile than by actually playing each individual title in live-action before making a final call; but in my opinion, these ones seem like real achievements you should play through once and enjoy rather than just seeing how things go on screen.
